Lucid – a social enterprise of Penington Institute – aims to provide solutions to alcohol and other drug problems, and raise awareness about the less visible aspects of addiction in the community.
Substance misuse is a mostly silent epidemic happening behind closed doors in households across Australia every day. It affects people from all walks of life, from blue collar to white collar, city to country.
A small but significant section of the population has an unhealthy relationship with alcohol – and increasingly with pharmaceutical and illicit drugs. Addiction affects not only an individual’s physical and mental health, but also their family, workplace and the broader community.
Too few remedial programs are designed to target these less visible consequences of addiction, which is where Lucid is making a difference. Through a range of community and workplace awareness and prevention programs, Lucid aims to effectively help the wider community tackle drug use problems before they escalate.
